DEPARTMENT HISTORY

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the year 1984 with an initial intake of 30 students in the UG programme and enhanced its intake to 180 in the year 2023. In 1998, the department started a PG programme in “Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)” with an intake of 18 students. Presently, the department has two PG programs M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and M.Tech in Computer Network Engineering with in-take of 30 and 18 students respectively.

Eligibility for Admission in CSE in MSRIT

To pursue an undergraduate engineering degree at MSRIT, a candidate must have passed the 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two-year Pre University in Karnataka), with Physics and Mathematics as required subjects and Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, and Electronics as optional subjects.

The minimum qualifying exam score for SC/ST, Category-1, and OBC candidates is 40%, whereas the minimum qualifying exam score for General Category applicants is 45%. If the candidate’s marks in Chemistry fall short of the required overall percentage for eligibility (and not for the reason of deciding rank, to engineering/technology courses), the candidate’s marks in Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics will be taken into consideration in their place.

Placements After Doing Computer Science Engineering from MSRIT

An average salary package ranges between 10 and 12 LPA. The lowest wage package offered by major hiring firms like Wipro and Infosys goes from 2 LPA to 4 LPA. Top recruitment firms include Apple, Cisco, Amazon, and others. Almost 95% of the students who apply get hired by well-paying firms.
