What Is the RVCE NRI Quota?
RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore offers a Supernumerary NRI Quota — seats that are created over and above the regular KCET and COMEDK intake. This means choosing NRI quota does not displace a merit-seat student; the seats are genuinely additional.
The quota is officially called the CIWG / OCI / PIO / Nepal Citizen Quota in RVCE’s own circulars (as of the 2026‑27 admission circular published on rvce.edu.in). It is open exclusively for B.E. programmes — M.Tech and MCA do not have an NRI supernumerary quota.

NRI
Non-Resident Indian — an Indian citizen residing outside India for employment or business purposes for over 182 days in a financial year.
OCI
Overseas Citizen of India — holds an OCI card issued by the Government of India. Treated on par with NRI for admission purposes.
PIO
Person of Indian Origin — foreign national of Indian origin up to four generations removed. Must hold a valid PIO card or OCI (since PIO cards were merged into OCI in 2015).
CIWG
Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries — parent must be employed in any of the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain).
Nepal Citizen
Citizens of Nepal are eligible due to the special India-Nepal relationship. Standard fee structure applies.
NRI-Sponsored
Indian students whose parent, grandparent, or sibling is an NRI and willing to be the financial sponsor. Sponsorship letter required.

RVCE NRI Quota Fee Structure 2026‑27 — Branch-Wise
NRI quota fees at RVCE are significantly higher than KCET and COMEDK merit fees. They are comparable to, or slightly higher than, Management Quota fees. The structure includes a one-time Development Fee (paid upfront) plus an Annual Tuition Fee paid each year.

Step-by-Step NRI Quota Admission Process at RVCE 2026
Unlike merit-based admissions that go through KEA counselling, NRI quota admissions are handled directly by RVCE’s Admission Cell. Follow these steps:

- Collect & Notarise Documents: Assemble all required documents (see checklist below). Documents issued outside India need attestation / apostille.
- Contact RVCE Admissions Office Directly: RVCE does not work through third-party consultants for NRI quota. Reach out to the Admissions Cell via the official contact on rvce.edu.in to register your interest and get the application form.
- Submit Application Form: Fill and submit the NRI quota application form along with self-attested document copies. Submit before the announced last date (usually July).
- Seat Allotment & Offer Letter: RVCE reviews applications and issues an offer/allotment letter to selected candidates. CSE and ISE seats fill fastest — apply early.
- Pay Development Fee (Seat Booking): Upon receiving the offer, pay the one-time development/donation fee within the stipulated deadline (typically 7–15 days). This secures your seat.

Is the degree under NRI quota the same as merit-seat students?
Yes. RVCE is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and is an autonomous institution. Every student — regardless of admission route — receives the same VTU-recognised B.E. degree. There is no distinction on the degree certificate between quota categories.
Can an NRI student apply if they studied abroad (CBSE / IB / A-levels)?
Yes. RVCE accepts Class 12 equivalents from international boards (IB, A-levels, American High School Diploma, etc.), provided the student meets the PCM percentage criteria. An equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) may be required.
