What is Direct Admission at KJSCE?

“Direct Admission” at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering refers to two distinct pathways through which a student can secure a seat without going through the full competitive CAP counselling rounds:

1. Management / Institutional Quota Admission

KJSCE reserves approximately 20% of its total BTech seats as institutional quota seats. These seats are filled directly by the college based on merit in accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main, MHT-CET, CUET, SAT, or PERA-CET. Candidates apply directly through the college’s official admission portal.

2. Lateral Entry / Direct Second Year (DSY) Admission

Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology, or B.Sc. graduates (in CS/IT/Electronics), can apply for direct admission to the Second Year (lateral entry) of the BTech programme. This is a merit-based process regulated by DTE Maharashtra via CAP rounds.

Important: There is no “management quota” in the traditional sense at KJSCE that bypasses entrance exam scores entirely. All direct admissions — whether institutional quota or lateral entry — are merit-based on valid entrance exam scorecards. Beware of agents claiming guaranteed seats without valid scores.
